License Management
The Nuance License Management solution (NLM) has the following main components:
- The stand-alone Nuance Central Licensing Service (NCLS) running as a Windows service
Required for Developer licensing and Page Based licensing schemes; also used for standalone runtime licensing of Form Template Editor (FTE) and Document Classifier Assistant (DCA) utilities
- Nuance Central Licensing Tool (NCLT) stand-alone utility
Required for Developer licensing and Page Based licensing schemes; also used for standalone runtime licensing of Form Template Editor (FTE) and Document Classifier Assistant (DCA) utilities
- OmniPage License Manager (
OPLicMgr.exe
and OPLicMgr_s.exe
) command-line tool
Required for Desktop Runtime Fixed Volume licensing
- License key (or Serial Number): A 22-character string that you receive in an email from Nuance Fulfillment regarding your order. This license key is used to download and activate a license on the target machine.
- License files
.lcx
: a single license always contains only one license either in activated or non-activated form
.lcxz
: packed license set, may contain more than one licenses;
.lcxp
: license package file; may contain more than one licenses and other information to facilitate manual download and license move
- NLCL.cfg file
Required for Central Licensing schemes and other special configuration tasks
Both NCLT and OPLicMgr facilitate the following actions:
- The retrieval and/or loading of license files
- Activating licenses either directly or through a Nuance web page from another machine
- De-activating licenses in order to move them to other computers or to save before a major hardware upgrade
- Checking the available licensed features etc.
